Development over years will be evident as the child grows in strength, ability and confidence. By secondary school age true dancing ability will prevail and having been subjected to annual dance shows, on stage before an audience of hundreds, the rounded dancer will be emerging. To get to this stage weekly grooming and correct attire will be needed for each class. Peer pressure will play a part as each individual will want to achieve the show class standard but, not all dancers are leading dancers so, there is room for all. Furthermore, the personal desire to perform on stage becomes compelling and brings with it the nervous tension of the opening night, which must be controlled.
It now becomes evident that the child attending the dance classes has mastered many of the skills necessary to face adult life and industry. Peer pressure has been mastered, team building has prevailed and standards and deadlines have been set. Perhaps above all, learning to control opening night nerves, serves to prepare for many high pressure situations in later life. There will never be a more stressful job interview!
By the early teenage years, dancers display graceful movement, positive personality, poise and confidence.. It will now be evident that the child has developed in a manner alien to the untrained. These attributes often prevail through life.
