Welcome
Established throughout East Lothian for over 35 years the Morag Alexander School of Dancing is accredited by The Council for Dance Education and Training with 4 full and one part time teachers all with Enhanced Disclosure Scotland.
The hidden values of the dancing culture are many and having developed as a dancer the individual is oblivious of the natural grace and beauty of their form and personality. Without dance, the missing qualities are often too apparent.
Furthermore, the development of grooming skills ensures an elegant and sophisticated appearance throughout life.
Training
Most parents present their siblings for dance class without realising what is actually involved and what can be achieved. That is, of course, unless the parent has had the dance experience. Simple things like rhythmic movement in time to music are taken for granted but there is much more to dance. From the earliest of stages dancers are trained to perform in sympathy with others and in time to music. Steps taught are very basic but will involve all limbs, hopping, skipping singing, mime direction and counting, etc. With tuition and normal physical development progress is reasonably rapid and by primary school age a young dancer will display dexterity well in excess of untrained children.
